Now in its 9th vintage, Gabrielskloof's only MCC is a pure expression of site and intent that balances freshness and depth, elegance with tension, and a bone dry palate with sweet sentiment.
Grapes sourced from a mix of cool-climate vineyards in Elgin, Ceres, and Botrivier were gently whole-bunch pressed and placed separately in older oak for fermentation over 6 months before blending and bottling. The wine then underwent a second fermentation under crown cap, was left to rest on the lees for 20 months, and then disgorged with zero dosage.
Madame Lucy's creamy palate and fine bubbles encapsulate Granny Smith Apples, grapefruit curd, pound cake, and the playful spirit of the beloved French Toy Poodle it is named in remembrance of.
